The Ugandan government has extended its gratitude to IUMS for their support of Uganda's anti-homosexuality legislation.

In a letter dated September 24th, the Ugandan government expressed its appreciation to the International Union of Muslim Scholars for their strong endorsement of the country's recent law, which imposes stringent penalties for engaging in homosexual activities and their promotion. The letter emphasizes the vital role of the family as a fundamental unit in society's construction, organization, and the preservation of its core values. It underscores the universal importance of these principles and values in fostering national unity, which is seen as a fundamental requirement for peace and prosperity in any nation.

This decision was made by President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and has sparked diverse reactions. Nonetheless, it signifies Uganda's dedication to reinforcing and safeguarding family values. It is noteworthy that the International Union of Muslim Scholars has previously issued statements highlighting the global risks associated with homosexual practices and their negative impact on family structures and human nature.
