The International Union of Muslim Scholars vehemently condemns the retaliatory actions by the occupying forces, which include widespread destruction of towers, buildings, and homes, as well as the merciless killing of women, children, and the elderly. It also laments the deafening silence of most of the world, international organizations, and human rights bodies regarding these atrocities. Such actions are unjustifiably portrayed as self-defense.
The statement reads:
The International Union of Muslim Scholars closely monitors, with deep sorrow and concern, the comprehensive destruction of towers, buildings, and homes carried out by the occupying government, as well as the ruthless killing of women, children, and the elderly, with utter disregard for any humanitarian international laws.
The anguish deepens when we witness the silence of the majority of the world, including the United Nations and global human rights organizations. Meanwhile, they all rose against the response of the people of Gaza to defend themselves and counter the aggression. It is baffling that some major nations consider everything done by the occupying state as self-defense, without considering the root of the problem, which lies in the occupation of our holy land and the provocative violations and brutal aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque, particularly by the current extremist and racist government.
Given the current circumstances, the International Union of Muslim Scholars underscores the following:
First: The resistance by our people in Palestine, including the steadfast resistance in Gaza, is legitimate according to all divine laws, international laws, and is a religious duty in Islam. As Allah says: "And why do you not fight in the cause of Allah and [for] the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, 'Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?'" (Quran, Surah An-Nisa, 4:75).
Second: The Union vehemently condemns the destruction of infrastructure, the killing of civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, and the retaliatory actions against the oppressed.
Third: The Union strongly denounces the double standards adopted by the United States and similar countries in considering everything done by the occupying state as "self-defense."
Fourth: The Union calls upon the Islamic nation – leaders, scholars, thinkers, and wealthy individuals – to stand with justice and support it, to provide legitimate and available means of support for the just resistance, to deter the occupation, and to expel it from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the occupied blessed land.
Fifth: The Union calls upon the United Nations, the international community, and human rights organizations to stand with the Palestinian and Islamic cause, protect the Palestinians from ongoing aggression, and safeguard the Islamic and Christian holy sites from aggression and serious violations – as witnessed at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first Qibla of Muslims, and the Ascention of the Prophet's Mosque.
In conclusion, the decree of Allah is that truth shall prevail, injustice shall perish, and occupation shall eventually crumble.
Allah says: "And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants." (Quran, Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:105).
