South Africa has summoned all its diplomats from Tel Aviv in the wake of the Gaza crisis

The South African government made an announcement on Monday to call back its diplomats from Tel Aviv for discussions following the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Presidential Affairs Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni communicated at a press briefing that "The government of South Africa has resolved to recall all of its diplomats from Tel Aviv for consultations," highlighting Pretoria’s dismay particularly due to "the ongoing Israeli airstrikes targeting schools and hospitals" in Gaza.

In her remarks, Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor expressed severe concern over the continual loss of children and innocent civilians' lives in Palestinian lands, criticizing Israel's actions as collective punishment.

 

She further remarked on the necessity for South Africa to voice its unease while persistently advocating for an immediate cessation of the hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

 

With this move, South Africa joins the ranks of the seventh nation to withdraw its chief emissaries from Tel Aviv in response to the siege on Gaza, following the footsteps of Chile, Colombia, Jordan, Turkey, Honduras, and Chad.
