IUMS praises and values the official recognition of the State of Palestine by Norway, Ireland, and Spain.

In a historic and blessed move, the International Union of Muslim Scholars commends the official announcement by Norway, Ireland, and Spain recognizing the State of Palestine, which will come into effect on May 28. We at the Union value this bold and progressive step that clearly demonstrates support for the Palestinian right to establish an independent and politically cohesive state.

We affirm that this recognition represents a true expression of the humanitarian and political values upheld by European nations and enshrined in their constitutions. It is a genuine contribution to supporting peace and stability in the region and meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people to live in security and dignity on their land. The recent war in Gaza has clearly highlighted the urgent need for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, and this recognition is a step towards achieving that goal.

We at the International Union of Muslim Scholars extend our gratitude and appreciation to the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, and the Prime Minister of Ireland, Simon Harris, who have shown a genuine commitment to achieving peace and justice. We express our hope that other nations will follow suit and recognize the State of Palestine, emphasizing that peace can only be achieved through justice and equality.

We also express our support and appreciation for the sacrifices of the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, who have exceeded all expectations, showing patience and steadfastness in the face of all challenges. The people of Gaza and Palestine in general have suffered the horrors of war and injustice, and it is time for them to live a life filled with hope and peace.

We conclude with the words of Allah Almighty: “And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good” (Hud: 115).

Allah is the Guardian of success,

Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Sallabi, Secretary-General
