Launch of IUMS Leadership and General Secretariat Meetings in Doha to Address Current Challenges and 2025 Plan

The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) commenced its leadership and General Secretariat meetings today, Thursday, November 28, 2024, corresponding to 26 Jumada al-Awwal 1446 AH. The sessions are being held at the union’s new headquarters in Doha, Qatar, under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohiuddin al-Qaradaghi, President of IUMS, and in the presence of Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Mohammed al-Sallabi, Secretary-General of the union.

Key Participants

The meetings are attended by assistant secretaries, including:

  • Sheikh Dr. Fadl Murad
  • Sheikh Dr. Sultan al-Hashemi (Treasurer)
  • Sheikh Dr. Abdul Wahab Ikinji
  • Sheikh Dr. Jamal Abdul Sattar
  • Sheikh Dr. Asif Luqman Qazi

The sessions opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by opening remarks from both the President and the Secretary-General. Their speeches highlighted the critical importance of the current phase and the union's future aspirations.

Agenda Highlights

The meetings will focus on several pivotal topics, including:

  • Reviewing the annual report for the current year.
  • Discussing the union’s 2025 strategic plan.
  • Addressing recent developments in the Islamic world.

The gatherings will extend until December 1, 2024, with 42 members participating in person and the remaining members joining via video conferencing.

Goals of the Meetings

These meetings aim to establish strategic plans that reinforce the union's mission and help address contemporary challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah.

By aligning efforts and refining its vision, IUMS seeks to continue its role as a guiding force for justice, unity, and the promotion of Islamic values across the globe.
