Doha: President of the Union Receives a Delegation of Malaysian Scholars to Discuss Issues of Islamic Jurisprudence and Ijtihad

On the evening of Tuesday, February 4, the esteemed Sheikh Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi, President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, received a high-level delegation of Malaysian scholars at his residence in Doha.

The delegation was led by the Grand Mufti of Malaysia, Dr. Luqman bin Abdullah, and included the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Mr. Qamar al-Zaman bin Sayyid Kabir, a renowned Malaysian astronomer, along with Dr. Ahmad Fawaz, an expert in the jurisprudence of balance and the head of the Al-Qaradaghi Center.

The meeting lasted for two hours, during which key issues related to Islamic jurisprudence, ijtihad, and the Islamic project were discussed, emphasizing their fundamental role in building an Islamic renaissance rooted in renewal and disciplined ijtihad in accordance with the principles of Sharia.

During the discussions, Sheikh Al-Qaradaghi stressed the importance of strengthening common perspectives and addressing gaps that could lead to unproductive disagreements, thereby contributing to the unity of Muslims and supporting the major causes of the Ummah.

This visit is part of a series of scholarly and intellectual meetings aimed at achieving jurisprudential and intellectual integration, linking contemporary ijtihad to the foundations of Sharia, and supporting the Islamic civilizational project. It also highlights the role of jurisprudence in addressing emerging issues with a spirit of renewal and authenticity.

Furthermore, this visit reflects the ongoing efforts of the President of the Union to enhance communication among the scholars of the Ummah and strengthen relations between Islamic elites.
