IUMS Secretary General meets Vice President of Sudan Scholarly Council
Dr. Ali Al-Qaradaghi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, met in his office Saturday 11 Jumada Al-Awwal 1434, 23 March 2013, Prof. Abdelhay Yusef, Vice Chairman of the Sudan Scholarly Council and head of the Department of Islamic Culture at Khartoum University. The two respected scholars were joined by Dr. Yusef’s accompanying delegation which included engineer Maher Salim, director of Tayba satellite channel, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Farjabi, expert at the Qatari Ministry of Endowment and advisor to the Islamic network.
Sheikh Abdelhay Yusuf briefed the Secretary General about the overall concerns and challenges of religious call (Da`wa) in the region, and the efforts of preachers and some philanthropist Muslims as well as the fruit of these efforts that gave birth to da`wa projects targeting Africa in general and the African Horn in particular.
The Secretary General listened to a special introduction about Tayba satellite channel from its director, in addition to other channels targeting Africa which were launched in several African languages. The director asserted that the initial results of the operation of these channels were beyond their expectations.
On his part, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi explained to the delegation the efforts made by the union to serve the revival of the Muslim nation and alleviate its pains.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Qaradaghi thanked Dr. Abdelhay Yusef and the accompanying delegation for their visit to the union and praised their efforts to serve Islam and Muslims. Dr. Abdelhay had arrived recently in Doha within the cultural season organized by the Qatari Ministry of Endowment.
