This, in turn, will open broader horizons for cooperation in various fields to serve the causes of the Islamic nation and humanity at large.
He affirmed that the International Union of Muslim Scholars is fully prepared for joint collaboration to achieve the desired goals, contributing to uniting, reforming, and advancing the nation in various fields.
A Legacy of Reform and Cultural Resistance
The Association of Algerian Muslim Scholars was founded on May 5, 1931, in Algiers, with the participation of 72 scholars from various regions and backgrounds, in the context of resisting French colonialism.
The association aimed to preserve Algeria’s Arab-Islamic identity and counter efforts of Westernization. Its reformist approach followed the legacy of Sheikh Abdelhamid Ben Badis, focusing on education, combating misconceptions, and eliminating superstitions.
After six years, Ben Badis launched the association’s charter, outlining its goals in promoting Arab culture and strengthening national awareness.
Despite the challenges it faced, the association continued to play an active role in preserving Algerian identity. It further strengthened its global presence by joining the International Union of Muslim Scholars in 2014, expanding its influence on Islamic and scholarly issues.
