IUMS mourns one of Ahsa’s major scholars, IUMS member, Shafi`i Sheikh Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Doghan
With hearts filled with acceptance to God’s destiny, we received the news of the departure of our honored brother, the Shafi`i jurist Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Doghan Al-Ahsa`i Al-Khaledi (of the Al-Mahashir family) on Saturday October 19 at the age of 102.
Sheikh Ahmed Al-Doghan is the founder of the Shafi`i Ahsa`i school of jurisprudence. He gained his education through the scholars of Al-Ahsa and has his sanad citation for the books of Shafei fiqh in a chain connected to imam Shafei and the leading imams of the tradition. He made it the mission of his life to spread religious knowledge and Shafi`i fiqh in Al-Ahsa and spared no effort or possession to that end. His efforts bore fruits of benefit to the people and the country as large number of scholars and sheikhs were among the students who inhaled from his knowledge. His study rings for Quran, Shafi`i fiqh, inheritance and Arabic grammar continued until recently.
The Muslim nation has lost one of its ascetic scholars who we supplicate to Allah Almighty to forgive him, grant him His mercy and pardon, grant him the best reward, the most honorable abode and spacious resting place, to make Paradise his eternal dwelling, shower him with His blessings and resurrect him with those whom He blessed, of the prophets, truthful believers, martyrs and goodly believers, and inspire his family, students and those who love him patience and solace, for He is the Best Supporter and the Best Answerer to our prayers.
To Allah we belong and to Him is our return.
