With hearts fully submitted to the will of Allah, we have received the news of the passing of Dato' Ali Al-Yafie, the first religious advisor to four Indonesian presidents, at the age of 95, after a lifetime dedicated to good deeds and charity.
Dato' Ali Al-Yafie was born in Donggala Regency, central Sulawesi on September 1, 1926. He was known for his commitment to religious teachings and his intensive work in the field of charity and good deeds.
The Sheikh played a prominent role in promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence among Muslims and followers of other religions and cultures. He was widely popular in Indonesia and the Islamic world and played a major role in raising religious, cultural, and social awareness in the community.
Sheikh Ali Al-Yafie was part of several religious and charitable organizations, serving as the General Chairman of the Indonesian Council of Ulama from 1998-2000, and as the General Chairman of the Executive Council of the Renaissance of Scholars from 1991-1992. He was also a patron of the Darul Da'wah Wal Irshad - Bari Islamic Boarding School in South Sulawesi.
