The Committee for Jurisprudence and Fatwa of the International Union of Muslim Scholars held a meeting on Saturday, March 25, to discuss some jurisprudential issues and research papers. The meeting began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from the chairman of the committee, Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi.
The minutes were read by the session's rapporteur, Sheikh Fadel Murad.
Afterwards, a research paper was presented on the economic boycott of countries that offend Islamic constants and their legitimate foundations by Sheikh Sultan Al-Hashimi, head of the scientific committee at the Union's Qatar branch.
Another research paper was presented on the jurisprudence of dealing with insults to Islamic sanctities by Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi, the Secretary-General of the Union. Based on this, a committee was formed to formulate the fatwa to be presented to the committee members within 24 hours for approval of the final wording of the fatwa or decision.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting lasted for two hours, and the remaining topics were postponed to the next meeting.
