A session of The Fiqh and Fatwa Committee was held on May 20, 2023, chaired by Sheikh Fadl Murad, the committee's rapporteur, on behalf of Sheikh Ali Al-Qaradaghi, the committee's chairman. The session lasted from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The agenda included several important items that were discussed during the session.
In the first session, the draft Fatwa Document, prepared by a committee chaired by Sheikh Mohammed Qormaz, was discussed. Dr. Qormaz read the draft document, and it was commented on and suggestions were added by the participants in the session. Subsequently, a drafting committee was formed, chaired by Dr. Qormaz, to work on the final preparation of the document.
The second session, which included discussions on two topics related to the inheritance of illicit money, was postponed. It was agreed to use a voting system to prioritize and select the proposed fatwas to be discussed in future sessions.
The objective of the Jurisprudence and Fatwa Committee is to study and discuss religious issues and issue fatwas based on the provisions of Islamic law. The Fatwa Document is an important tool that provides a framework for issuing fatwas and guiding religious matters.
The meeting of the Jurisprudence and Fatwa Committee is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance a correct understanding of Sharia and provide religious guidance to Muslims in various fields.
